Route
Starting at Belper Leisure Centre, cross Kilbourne Road at pedestrian crossing near roundabout. Turn right for 10m then take footpath next to field up to squeeze stile. Turn right then past houses on right to field. Keep hedge on right and over stile.
Head right down Kirk’s Lane then take the footpath left and up the hill just before the car park. Head straight up through a gate and over two stiles to Sandbed Lane.
Head straight over to wide farm track and past covered reservoir and houses on your left. Where road curves right, cross stile on left and through propped open gate. Turn immediately right down hill and through stile, taking care on steep and often muddy descent to the bottom. Follow left side of field to corner, through metal gate and over stream then keep left to hedge at end of field. Go through gate in hedge then turn left at footpath junction and head over road to wooden bridge in wood.
Follow the path around the right of the field to a stile then head straight through 3 fields and along stone path with steps to Sandbed Lane. Cross the road and turn left to the Public Bridleway sign. Turn right down Kirk’s Lane, looking for the stile you used earlier on the right hand side then retrace your steps back to the Leisure Centre.
