Accessibility: For some. Squeeze and gate stiles and some steep sections. Section by stream muddy in wet weather so walking boots/ wellies recommended.
Route
Starting at the Chapel in Windley, walk up the main road (Windley Lane) through the village and continue up hill for 3/4 miles to the second track on the left called Lime Kiln Lane, not far past the disused wooden bus stop.
Follow the track till it becomes a footpath and heads straight down towards the woods through a couple of stiles/gates. Ignore any paths off until the track eventually gets to a stream at the bottom.
To the right you will see a rudimentary crossing with stepping stones. If it has been raining heavily, wellies will be needed but the stream is passable with care by using the stepping stones and holding the fence to your right.
Once over, cross over the stile and head straight up through fields until you see/hear a farm on your left and a field of crops ahead.
The footpath takes you directly through the crops and then through the stile, it veers slightly left towards the top of boggy field. A large herd of deer were in a field to the right of us, near an amazing barn – both were fantastic.
You then see a cross road of footpaths, and we bear left on the footpath, towards the trees on a small hill. Keep the trees on your right and follow the well defined path which forms a track to takes you all the way back down to Windley.
